Hilda Serna

Hilda Serna, a life-long resident of Valley View, TX, died after a long battle of heart failure on February 15, 2023, at the age of 72.

Hilda is survived by her husband Manuel Serna; her son Mark Serna and wife Ashley; her daughter Michelle Serna Turner and husband Ken; sister Donna Bauer; brother Bonny Prescher and wife Florence; sister-in-law Pauline Prescher; grandchildren Taylor Serna, Anastazia Hurt, Jazmen Hurt, Caden Hurt, & Titan Turner; step-grandchildren Jadie Williams, Trinidy Williams, Logan Williams, Nathan Williams, Cade Hurt, Brittany Nicholson; great-grandchildren Brinlee Petty & Brylee Petty; step-great-grandchildren Skylar Nicholson.

Mrs. Serna was preceded in death by her parents Leo & Hilda Prescher; brother Jimmy Prescher; granddaughter Tiffany Serna.

Hilda was born in California on April 28, 1950, to Leo and Hilda Prescher.  She graduated from Valley View High School in 1968. She met her husband Manuel in 1970 and married in 1973.  In 1976 they had their first-born child.  She worked for Victor Equipment/ Thermadyne for many years and retired from Thermadyne in 2013 at the age of 62.

Mrs. Serna was a devoted wife, mother, nana, and friend.  She enjoyed spending time with her family, sewing, gambling at the casino, and being at all sporting events for her children and grandchildren.  It was a guarantee that she was going to be the loudest one there cheering on her number 1 player and favorite team.  She also loved to dance and had the fastest feet of anyone we knew.

Services are scheduled for Sunday, February 19, 2023, at Geo. J. Carroll & Son Funeral Home in Gainesville, TX.  The rosary will start at 2:30 PM with Liturgy of the Word and visitation to follow.
