Graveside services for Howard “Mick” Mickey, 90, of Houston, long-time resident of Midland, are scheduled for 3:00 PM on Saturday, August 24, 2019 at Woodlawn Cemetery in Houston, TX.
Mr. Mickey passed away August 22, 2019 in Gainesville, TX.
Howard was born August 18, 1929 in Clovis, NM to Samuel Edwin and Bernese Blanche (Weathers) Mickey. He graduated high school in Midland where he was a tight end on the football team and enjoyed rabbit hunting. Mr. Mickey served in the U.S. Navy from 1950 to 1952 and received his Bachelor’s degree in Accounting from Texas Christian University in 1959. He was a comptroller for Texaco until his retirement in 1988. Mr. Mickey was married to Novella Bailey in Brownwood, TX in 1952, until her passing in 2000. In 2003, he married Martha Brannock in Houston. In retirement, Mr. Mickey volunteered countless hours at St. Luke’s Episcopal Hospital in Houston, enjoyed traveling and gardening, and spent as much time as he could with his grandchildren.
Survivors include: wife Martha Lee Brannock Mickey of Hebron, UT; daughter Janet Lawrence and husband Mike of Midland; daughter Susan Gleaton and husband Robert of Gainesville; stepdaughter Sherry Prucka and husband Matt of Park Cities, UT; grandchildren: Chris Rangel and wife Brailand, Joshua Gleaton, Daniel Gleaton and wife Anna, Kaycia Chambless and husband Cameron, Micah Gleaton, Aaron Gleaton, Elizabeth Prucka, and Alex Prucka; and great-grandchildren: Brook, Virginia, Sam, Ruth, Eli, Emily, Ellie, Abigail, Jameson, and Elliott.
Mr. Mickey was preceded in death by: his parents; wife Novella Bailey Mickey; grandson Benjamin Gleaton; brother Dale Mickey; brother Francis Mickey, and sister Doris Moorman.
