Imelda Mary Bierschenk Rauschuber, first child born to William and Mary (Neu) Bierschenk, was born on July 17, 1931. Imelda attended Lindsay Elementary until Camp Howze took the family farm and they moved to Pilot Point for a brief period. The family purchased a farm in Valley View and she graduated from Valley View High School in 1948. On May 3, 1950, she married Alvin Rauschuber and they had eight children. Imelda lived through the Great Depression, WWII, raised 8 babies with no disposable diapers or a real washing machine and no dryer other than a clothes line. The family farm raised chickens and sold eggs and then converted to a dairy farm. After she no longer had to assist her kids with their studies, she started her own college education at NCTC to become a Registered Nurse and earned her B.S.N. at the University of Texas at Arlington. She worked at the Decatur Community Hospital in many departments, culminating as the Director of Nursing, was a Silver Haired Legislator for the State of Texas, and served as an Ombudsman for local nursing homes in Gainesville. She also served as a substitute teacher and nurse at Valley View I.S.D. during her later years. Imelda enjoyed traveling throughout the United States, Canada, and Europe and loved baking, quilting, and her cat, Frank.
