Inez Lewis

Barbara "Inez" Lewis, 89, passed away July 7 at her home in Gordonville, TX. Graveside funeral services will be held Wednesday, July 13 at 10:00 am at Fairview Cemetery in Gainesville, TX under the direction of Geo. J. Carroll & Son Funeral Home. Visitation for family and friends will be held Tuesday evening, July 12, from 6:00 pm - 7:30 pm at the funeral home.

Inez was born June 15, 1933 in Foreman, AR to Arvil T. Dawson and Clemmie Abney Dawson. She graduated from Fort Worth Diamond Hill High School. Inez then entered the Diploma Nursing program at All Saints Hospital in Fort Worth and started there in her career as an LVN in 1952. It was in Fort Worth that she met her husband, William Marlin Lewis, Jr. William and Inez later married in 1956 in Gainesville, TX where they lived and worked for many years, as well as raise their two sons. Inez worked for 40 years as an LVN in Gainesville, first at the old sanitarium on Lindsay Street, and then Gainesville Memorial Hospital as an operating room LVN, where she retired in 1999. Inez moved to Gordonville in 2006 where she resided until her passing. She enjoyed trips to Las Vegas with her husband and going on bus trips with some of her hospital girlfriends. Her hobbies also included crocheting and watching the Dallas Cowboys and Texas Rangers ballgames every chance she got.

Inez was preceded in death by her husband William Marlin Lewis, Jr, parents Arvil T and Clemmie Abney Dawson, sister Joan Mitchell, and step-granddaughter Tetter Trammell. She is survived by her son Larry Keith Lewis and wife Helen of Gainesville, granddaughter Melissa Lewis of Denton, TX, and grandson Jonathan Lewis of Gainesville, son Kevin Gene Lewis and wife Janie of Gordonville, TX and step-grandson Roger Lee Skinner and wife Caiti of Gainesville.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations be made to Home Hospice of Cooke County.
