Kenneth Ray “Jack” Greene, 87, of Gainesville, passed away March 9, 2022 in Denton.
Jack was born October 11, 1934 in Love’s Valley, OK and attended school in Wewoka, OK. He entered the workforce at an early age, beginning in the oil field then moving to construction. Before going into business for himself, Jack worked for BJ Company, Rogers & O’Brien, McCutchen Construction, and Gainesville Construction. During the rare times he wasn’t working, Jack enjoyed deer hunting and vacationing in West Texas. Jack was a 32nd Degree Mason and Shriner, and a 50-year member of Gainesville Lodge 210.
Mr. Greene was preceded in death by: wife of 29 years, Barbara Greene; parents, Elbert Nelson and Dorothy Beatrice (Taylor); sisters: Mabel Mask, Ruth Bullard, Lucille Neal, and Glenna Delaney; and brothers: Herman, Joe, Leroy, Jimmy, and John.
Survivors include: son, Mike Greene and wife, Cay of Austin; son, Ricky Greene and wife, Julie of Sadler; grandchildren: Scott, Casey (Brandon), Jessica, and Jordan; great-grandchildren: Bryce, Rush, Hudson, and Baine; sister-in-law, Peachola Greene; step-daughter, Becky Caddell and husband, Tym of San Antonio; numerous nieces and nephews; and many special and dear friends.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 7:30 P.M. on Sunday, March 13, 2022, at Geo. J. Carroll & Son Funeral Home, Gainesville. A graveside service will begin at 2:00 P.M. on Monday, March 14, at Fairview Cemetery, Gainesville.
Serving as pallbearers are: Scott Greene, Brandon Fuchs, Bryce Greene, Chris Glass, Brian Winters, and Mike Carter. Honorary pallbearers are: George Grounds, Jess Cason, and Johnny Thompson.
Memorial contributions may be made to Scottish Rite for Children Hospital in Dallas.
