James Oliver Dodson, of Fort Worth, passed away on his 91st birthday, September 5, 2022 in Gainesville, TX,
with his loving daughter Whitney at his side. Jim was born, September 5, 1931, in Bartlesville Oklahoma. He was raised in Lancaster, TX and graduated from Lancaster High School in 1948, where he was a Captain of the Debate team. Jim graduated from North Texas State College in 1954. Jim met, the love of his life, Carolyn Russell, at their North Texas horseback riding class. He married Carolyn, of Texarkana, TX, on New Years Eve of 1956. With Carolyn's support, he earned his Law degree from SMU Dedman School of Law in 1960. Jim served as Assistant District Attorney in Dallas County. He spent the balance of his career serving as an attorney for the Federal government at the National Labor Relations Board.
Jim was preceded in death by: his wife Carolyn Russell Dodson; daughter Kendall Brett Dodson; second wife Gloria Gathings Record; stepchildren James Record; Cathryn Record-Horn; Daniel Record; parents Joseph and Helen Roberts Dodson; brother Kay Robert Dodson and sister-in-law Joan Dodson.
Survivors include: daughters, Whitney Lee Delcourt, of Gainesville, TX and Mallory Lynn Fitch; his grandchildren: Ashton and Dresden Fitch, nephews: Paul Dodson, Marc Dodson; nieces, Mary Kay Berg; Jill Maupin; Carolyn Reeder; niece and goddaughter Dr. Flora Hammond.
A private graveside memorial will be held at Greenwood Memorial Park in Fort Worth.
