James Spruill

James “Sunshine” Lloyd Spruill, 63, of Gainesville, Texas passed away peacefully in his home Sunday, March 21, 2021. James is survived by his sister Linda Milam of Gainesville. Niece and Nephew Tina Davis of Gainesville, and Mike Newton of Healdton, OK. Children, son Jeremy Spruill of Denton, and stepdaughter Crystal Crosby of Whitesboro. Two grandchildren Alexis and Layton, numerous cousins, great nieces and nephews, and many cherished friends.

James was born in Fort Worth, Texas on December 11, 1957 to Thomas Milton and Verna Mae Spruill.  James was a graduate of Gainesville High School; class of 1976 where most knew him as “Sunshine”. James was a lover of rock & roll music, a connoisseur of beer, and a Nascar and Dallas Cowboys enthusiast. In his later years James enjoyed spending time with his family, daytime tv with his sidekick Bella, and monthly movie dates with his niece Tina and great, great nephew Watson (who knew him as Grouch).

James is preceded in death by his parents Milton and Verna Spruill and his loving wife Shanna Spruill. A memorial service for James is currently being planned for his family and friends to be held at a later date.
