Jan "Thor" Olof Torsten Book

A memorial service for Jan "Thor" Olof Torsten Book, 73, of Runaway Bay, is set for 3:00 PM Saturday, February 6, 2021 at the Runaway Bay Country Club Pavilion with Pastor Olan Collins officiating. No formal visitation is planned.

Jan was born on August 22, 1947 in Jonkoping, Sweden to Kjell David Book and Gunborg Maria (Sjogren) Book. He passed away on January 31, 2021 in Decatur, Texas.

Jan joined the Swedish Merchant Marines after graduating. at 20 years old, he was recruited by Lamar Hunt to join the Dallas Tornadoes Soccer Club. Jan played professionally all over the world until his retirement. He married the love of his life, Dorothy Dollar in 1972.

Jan is survived by his wife Dorothy Book of Runaway Bay; son Ronnie McCoy and his wife Alice; daughter Rhonda McCoy; daughter Jana Book Holm and her husband Morgan; sister Gunnel Schoier and her husband Ulf; brother Lief Book and his wife Anette; grandchildren Shanda Collins, Adrianne Huckaby and husband AJ, Veronica Colbert, Karsten Olof Holm, Keegan Holm, Lillian Holm, and Kaleigh Court and husband Colt; great-grandchildren Skyler Boaz and husband Tyler, Eain Oliphant and wife Brianna, Kade Oliphant, Kaden Cunningham, Tyler Huckaby, Issac Rodriguez, Samuel Rodriguez, Ava Colbert, Hunter McCoy, Gavin McCoy, Xander McCoy, Georgia McCoy, Kesley McCoy, Christopher Collins, Kali Jo Court, Casey James Court, Ella Huckaby, and Ace Huckaby; and great-great-grandchildren Nova Torsten Oliphant, and Dawson Boaz.

He was preceded in death by his parents; grandson Kenny Torsten McCoy; and grandson Christopher Riley.
