Jane Marie Otto

Jane Fuhrmann Otto, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, teacher, and friend, passed away on June 30, 2024 at age 69 in her home in Lindsay, TX.  She was born on May 18, 1955 in Muenster, Texas to Joe Paul and Marie Fuhrmann of Lindsay, TX.

Jane was a devoted wife to Michael Otto of Wichita Falls for 43 years.  In addition to her husband, she is survived by her son Joseph Otto, Ph. D. of Arlington, Texas; and her daughter and son in law Jennifer and Phil Rasy of Fort Worth and their children Anna Rose, Eli, and Andrew; and her daughter and son in law Christina and Michael Haralson of Muenster and their children Augustus, Vivian, Evelyn, and Eleanor.

She leaves behind brothers Paul and wife Amelia Fuhrmann, Eddie Fuhrmann, Andy Fuhrmann, Pete and wife Marion Fuhrmann, Albert and wife Lana Fuhrmann, Leonard and wife Tammie Fuhrmann, and her sisters Rita Lusk, Alice and husband Chuck Schumacher, and Lucy and husband Damian Krahl.  Brothers and sisters in laws Steve and Tracy Otto, Frances Otto, Philip Otto and Sandy Otto.

She is preceded in death by her parents Joe Paul and Marie Fuhrmann of Lindsay, brother Norbert Fuhrmann and brother-in-law Norman Otto.

Jane graduated from East Texas State University in Commerce with a degree in elementary education in 1976.  She spent 42 years as a teacher, touching countless lives in the classroom.  She was an active participant in St. Peter’s Parish of Lindsay, teaching the Catholic faith through the religious education program and serving on various church committees.  She enjoyed puzzles, scrabble, quilting, traveling, reading, and trips to the casino with large groups of family and friends.

Jane’s love for her family and community knew no bounds.   Recently, she was awarded the Home Town Hero award for the town of Lindsay; chosen because of her dedication to the children, church and community members of Lindsay.

Jane’s greatest passion in her later years was her grandchildren whom she would spoil with bike rides, trips to Chuck E Cheese, Christmas events and continued teaching.

The family will receive friends at St Peter’s Church in Lindsay on July 2nd at 6:00 pm for a Rosary followed by visitation at Conrad Hall.  Funeral services will be at St Peter’s Catholic Church at 10:00 AM on Wednesday, July 3rd with Fr John Martin officiating.  Interment will be at St Peters Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the St Peters Catholic Church in memory of the living and deceased members of the Joe and Marie Fuhrmann Family.
