A memorial service for Jarred Anthony “J-Doh” Douthit, 30, of Gainesville, is scheduled for 2:00 PM on Thursday, December 5, 2019 at Geo. J. Carroll & Son Funeral Home.
Jarred passed away November 26, 2019 in Denison due to complications stemming from a years-long illness.
“J-Doh”, as he was known by the numerous people that loved him, was born March 6, 1989 in Gainesville to Jim and Jeanne Douthit. Raised in Gainesville, Jarred was a member of Gainesville High School’s graduating class of 2007. It was during these formative years that his health struggles began and his tenacious and gracious spirit became evident. Throughout all the doctor appointments and hospital stays, Jarred not only maintained his great smile and contagious laughter, but sustained a usual lifestyle and graduated at the top of his class - he never let his health interfere with the pursuit of his dreams. He most recently attained his “dream job”, working for a tech startup as Lead Quality Assurance Engineer, using the skills he had taught himself in what little spare time he had.
Jarred was a lifelong gamer and advocate for eSports. A formidable opponent, he could rarely be beat, regardless of the game or platform. He also used streaming services to provide insight and support to others with chronic diseases.
Jarred’s proudest achievement in life was being a father to Zoey, his beloved daughter. When talking to Jarred, regardless of what was new in his life, it was Zoey he talked about first. Not just Zoey, but anyone that crossed paths with J-Doh, is a better person for having known him. One of the kindest people you’d ever encounter, he was open and friendly to everyone he met. Jarred’s uplifting positivity will serve as an example to us all. We’ve all lost a member of our family – he will be dearly missed.
Survivors include: daughter Zoey Elizabeth Douthit; parents Jim and Jeanne Douthit of Gainesville; sister Jennifer Douthit of Ardmore; brother Bo Douthit and wife Maisoun of Gainesville; close friend Cindy Leigh of Valley View; ex-wife Ashley Douthit of Denton; nieces and nephews: Hartlee, Rekker, Riott, and Leland; aunt Judy Roberts of Gainesville; aunt Timmie Atkinson of Oklahoma City, OK; and many friends.
Jarred was preceded in death by: his maternal and paternal grandparents; and brother Jeff Douthit.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Make-A-Wish Foundation.
