Jean Arendt

August 22, 1951 — April 23, 2020

Jean Arendt, age 68 of Lindsay, passed away after a battle with cancer on April 23, 2020 at 9:00 a.m. She was born to the late Charles Lavelle Wensley and Nonnie Wensley on August 22, 1951.

Jean graduated from University of North Texas with a Degree in Education. She touched many lives as both an English and Spanish teacher at Crooked Oak High School in Oklahoma City, OK, Lindsay I.S.D. in Lindsay, TX,, St. Mary’s Catholic School in Gainesville, TX, and Naaman Forest High School in Garland, TX. Jean ended her illustrious career at Era I.S.D. in Era, TX. During the later part of her life, Jean became a mother figure to her beloved cocker spaniels as a dog breeder and the owner of Fossil Ridge Kennel. Jean loved her family, her students and her dogs with ferocity and dedication. Jean also loved reading, taking care of her plants, sewing, blue bell ice cream and a good crime tv show.

Survivors include her husband, Andy Arendt and her children Nicole, Julie, Scott and Mindy as well as 7 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren. She is also survived by her sisters Kathy and Joanna and her brother, David as well as a large number of loving relatives and friends.

Jean’s beautiful life will be celebrated at a memorial service set for a later date, due to the Covid-19 virus. The family wishes to thank those who helped their mother and family in the difficult days of her battle with cancer, especially Dr. Tammy Roque and Michelle at Texas Oncology and the amazing nurses at Texoma Medical Center and the Dill Family. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Jean’s name to the American Cancer Society, Era I.S.D. or St. Peter’s Catholic Church in Lindsay, TX.
