Jerry Ronald Estes

June 15, 1937 — October 5, 2021

Mr. Jerry Estes of Gainesville passed away peacefully at the age of 84 on October 5, 2021, in Gainesville.  Visitation is scheduled for Thursday, October 14 th from 10 am – 12 pm at Geo. J.  Carroll & Son Funeral Home.  Graveside service will be held later that day at 2:00 pm at Fairview Cemetery.

Jerry was born on June 15, 1937, in Gainesville to Frank Estes and Dorothy (Terry) Estes.  He attended Gainesville schools and Arlington State University (UT Arlington).  He married Phyllis Lewis on July 30, 1960, in Gainesville, and they celebrated 61 years together before his passing.  He was employed by Texas Instruments in Dallas and Varo Manufacturing in Garland before returning to Gainesville in 1968 to be co-owner of Gainesville Foundry until his retirement in 2006.

He was a member of Hillcrest Church of Christ for almost 40 years where he served several years as a deacon.   He was well known for being strong in his faith and a very devoted Christian.  A loving and supportive husband and father, his knowledge and guidance were the foundations of his family.

Besides the love he had for his church and family, he was an enthusiast of flying, hunting, fishing, and riding motorcycles.  Memories made with family and friends will be remembered and he will be truly missed.

Jerry is survived by his wife Phyllis of Gainesville, daughter Donna Fenley and husband Bradley of Lake Dallas, daughter Lisa Estes of Gainesville, sister Gloria Reeves and husband Robert of Valley Mills, sister-in-law Shirley Weems of Lindsay, and sister-in-law Dorthy Lewis of Gainesville, grandson Jared Fenley of Lake Dallas, along with several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, sister Mary Thompkins, parents-in-law Garreth and Geraldine Lewis, sister-in-law Connie Emberton, and brother-in-law Ralph Lewis all of Gainesville
