We say goodbye to Jerry W. Woodlock, 73, of Gainesville. Jerry passed away on Saturday, May 19, 2018, in Sherman, Texas following an abrupt illness. Jerry was born in Fort Worth, Texas on December 18, 1944, to Robert and Mary Lou Reaves Woodlock, the youngest of four children. He graduated from Haltom High School in 1963, received his Bachelor of Arts in History from the University of Texas at Arlington in 1967, and a Juris Doctor degree from the University of Texas at Austin in 1970. He served in the Army National Guard.
In 1965, he married Beverly Nelson. After completing his education, Jerry and Beverly moved to Gainesville, Texas where they raised their sons, Chris and Clint. For 48 years, Jerry served the community in various civic rolls, including State District Judge.
Jerry was preceded in death by his parents, brother Bobby, sister and brother–in–law Gloria and Jim Rawlings, and three infant sons. Jerry is survived by his wife, sons and daughter-in-law Lawana, granddaughters Kylie and Reagan, sister Dixie Dunton and her husband Mike Dunton, and many wonderful nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held at 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, May 22, at Whaley United Methodist Church, 701 Rosedale Dr., Gainesville, with Rev. Jerry Jones officiating, under the direction of Geo. J. Carroll & Son Funeral Home.
Memorial contributions in Jerry’s memory may be made to Whaley United Methodist Church, where he was a member, CASA of North Texas, 315 California Street, Gainesville, or a charity of your choice.
