Funeral services for James "Jim" Ellis West Jr., 83, of Gainesville, are set for 2:00 PM Friday, April 13, 2018 at the Geo. J. Carroll & Son Funeral Home with Dr. Jeff Langley officiating and Rev. Hollis Parsons assisting. Burial will follow in the Fairview Cemetery. A visitation will be held at the funeral home on Thursday, April 12, 2018 at 6:00 PM

Jim was born on June 7, 1934 in Whitesboro to James Ellis West Sr. and Dorothy Evelyn (Casey) West. He passed away on April 9, 2018 in Ft. Worth.

Jim is survived by his wife Barbara West of Gainesville; son-in-law Don Vasquez of Krum; son Mark Gregory of Gainesville; son Scott Gregory and his wife Liz of Gainesville; son Ronny Gregory and his wife Jana of Whitesboro; grandchildren Jason Hudnall, Shanna Derheim, Jeremy Derheim, Melissa Derheim, Ashley West, Jeff Gregory, Tim Fails, Aaron West, Justin West and wife Shasta, Weston Gregory, Laura Gregory, Andi Gregory, Rachel Vasquez, Makenzi Borchardt and husband Coleby, and Abbi Gregory; 13 great-grandchildren; brother Joe West and his wife Norma of Whitesboro; and sister Lou McCorkle of Denison.

He was preceded in death by his parents; son James Ellis West III; daughter Lisa Gayle (West) Vasquez; and brother Max West.

Pallbearers and honorary pallbearers will be his grandchildren.
