Jimmy Velton Evans

April 30, 1941 — February 18, 2024

Funeral services for Jimmy Velton Evans, 82, of Gainesville, are scheduled for 11:00 AM Thursday, February 22, 2024 at Crossroads Baptist Church with Pastor Randy Taylor officiating.  Burial will follow in Fairview Cemetery.  A visitation will be held at the church starting at 10:00 AM.

Mr. Evans was born at home on the outskirts of Gainesville on March 30, 1941 to Kay and Alta (Odom) Evans.  He was a longtime member of Crossroads Baptist Church.  After being employed at the Linda Jo Shoe Factory for many years, he worked for Weber for 32 years.  He had a love of classic cars, enjoyed metal detecting and working puzzles in his free time.

Jimmy is survived by his wife Beverly Jo (Conners) Evans of Gainesville; children:  Sandra Johnson of Gainesville, Felecia Brewer of Sadler, Joe and Karen Evans of Gainesville, Sarah Evans of Gainesville, Melinda Johnson of Plano; 7 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; siblings:  Bonnie Bideganeta, Donna Evans, Jan Cole; numerous nieces and nephews.

Mr. Evans was preceded in death by his parents and by his brother Roy Evans.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Crossroads Baptist Church Building Fund, 2201 W. California St., Gainesville, TX 76240.
