Jimmy Carroll Jones

Jimmy Carroll Jones was born on March 24, 1938 in Walnut Bend, TX.  He went home to be with his Lord on October 6, 2021.

Jimmy was preceded in death by his parents Jack Albert and Velma Lambert Jones and his son Jimmy “Jimbo” Carroll Jones, Jr.

Mr. Jones is survived by his wife of 65 years, Dorothy Fay; daughter Mary Fay Jackson of Gainesville; daughter and son-in-law Connie and Phil Hiser of Horseshoe Bay; daughter Bonnie Baerwald; daughter and son-in-law Diana and David Thomas of Nashville; daughter Carla Jones of Pearland; son Timothy Jones of Gainesville; son David Jones of Gainesville; son and daughter-in-law Mike and Barbara Jones of Walnut Bend; 22 grandchildren; 30 great-grandchildren.  His is also survived by his sister Connie Perry of Gainesville; brother and sister-in-law Kenny and Lisa Jones of Gainesville; brother and sister-in-law Randy and Cheryl Jones of Gainesville; numerous nieces and nephews.

Jimmy wore many hats.  He was a construction and trucking entrepreneur.  He owned many rock quarries around North Texas.  He also helped with the reconstruction of New Orleans after Hurricane Katrina.  He was an expert heavy equipment operator and licensed pilot.

Mr. Jones was an ordained minister and an elder at the Church of Jesus Christ (River Alive).  He was an accomplished musician, singing and playing with his family group 1 A Chord.  He received several awards in the gospel music industry, including being inducted into the International Country Gospel Music Association Hall of Fame.  Recently he received an Honorary Doctorate for television evangelism for Emmanuel Baptist University.

Jimmy was a visionary who pioneered country gospel music with an award-winning television program for the last 26 years called Texas County Gospel.  This program led to the purchase of the Gospel Music Television Network, now called Family Friendly Entertainment.  His legacy will live on through music and video.

A funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM Monday, October 11, 2021 at Geo. J. Carroll & Son Funeral Home.  Burial will follow in Fairview Cemetery.  A visitation is scheduled for Sunday from 5:00 to 7:30 PM.
