Joanie passed away at home Thursday, May 21, 2020. Joan Elizabeth Schad Wyrick was born April 3, 1960, in Gainesville, the sixth of eight children to Edward Schad and Louise Hermes Schad. Joanie married Larry Don Wyrick on May 9, 1987 in Lindsay. They were a large happy family where there was a lot of work to be done, so Joanie learned to work hard at an early age helping on the farm.
Joanie’s first job was at the Smokehouse. She also worked at Peterbilt, where she met her husband Larry. She “retired” from full time work in 1990 to stay home with her kids. Throughout her life she has been an active volunteer. She served as funeral dinner director of the St. Anne’s Society for many years. She was a religious education teacher for St. Peter’s Catholic Church where she was a lifelong member. She later took over Hermes Sisters Catering in the 1990’s. In 2019, she helped keep the Lindsay Senior Citizens Group going following her mother’s death.
Joanie is survived by her husband Larry; two sons, Benjamin and wife Kathy of Lindsay; John and wife Jessica of Lindsay; five daughters, Erin Farris and husband Andrew of Sanger; Amelia Fuhrmann and husband Abe of Lindsay, Rose Hellinger and husband Sam of Lindsay; Laura Wyrick and Theresa Wyrick of Lindsay; 13 grandchildren and one on the way. She is also survived by two brothers EJ Schad and wife Elaine of Valley View and Don Schad and wife Donna of Lindsay; and three sisters Mary Jean Bayer and husband Melvin of Lindsay, Alice Kendall and husband Mike of Lindsay, and Phyllis Schad of Lindsay.
Joanie was preceded in death by her parents, Edward and Louise; brothers Danny Schad and Joseph Schad and one son Nicholas Wyrick.
