Joanna Reeves, 87, of Gainesville, passed away December 23, 2023 in Denton.

Joanna was born October 6, 1936 in Pottawatomie County, OK.  She graduated from Callisburg High School and was a longtime resident of Cooke County, TX.  Mrs. Reeves had received her Associates degree from North Central Texas College and worked many years as a secretary, with her longest career being over ten years with the State of Texas.  She volunteered with Meals on Wheels, cooked in the soup kitchen, and was a member of Hillcrest Church of Christ.

Predeceased by: parents Fletcher and Fairy (Jeffery) Pettit; husband Bill Reeves; and brothers Harold, Bud, and Babe.

Survived by: son Preston Douglas of Gordonville; son Kelly Reeves of Gainesville; daughter Jane Reeves of Deer Park; grandchildren Cindy Nolan, Amanda Caylor-Boychuk, Jeffery Douglas, and Justin Caylor; and four great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from noon to 2:00 p.m. on Friday, December 29, at Geo. J. Carroll & Son Funeral Home.  A graveside service is scheduled for 3:00 p.m. on Friday at Oak Grove Cemetery.
