Jodie Vance

Joseph Woods “Jodie” Vance, 83, of Mountain Springs, passed away December 3, 2022 in Denton.

Jodie was born March 22, 1939 in Dallas.  He attended St. Edward’s Grade School and graduated from Jesuit High School in 1957.  Mr. Vance spent most of his career with Circle K Ranch training and judging quarter horses.  He was also a brand inspector for the State of Texas and worked with the Gainesville Livestock Auction.  Prior to his retirement Mr. Vance worked with the Mountain Springs Water Company.  He was a lover of all animals, a third-degree Knight of Columbus, and an active member of St. John’s Catholic Church (Valley View) and St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church (Pilot Point).

Mr. Vance was preceded in death by: parents Rayborn and Rosalie (Long) Vance; sister Mary Alice Maher; brother Ray Vance; brother Cardy Vance and wife Sandy; brother Mike Vance; brother-in-law Jim Klement; and niece Stephanie Vance.

Survivors include: sister Cissy Klement of Gainesville; sister-in-law Cathy Vance of Dallas; and his “Bonus Children”: Kathleen Beach, Tim Klement, Marianne Percy, Christine Doyle, Eileen Weber, Jeff Vance, Jodie Vance, Andrew Vance, Patrick Vance, and Michael Vance.

A Rosary prayer service, with visitation to follow, will begin at 6:00 p.m. on Sunday, December 11, 2022, at Geo. J. Carroll & Son Funeral Home in Gainesville.  A memorial Mass is scheduled for 10:00 a.m. on Monday, December 12, 2022 at St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church in Pilot Point.  Mr. Vance will be laid to rest at Valley View Cemetery at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Noah’s Ark Animal Shelter.
