John Matthew Caraway

April 8, 1978 — June 7, 2020

John Matthew Caraway, 42, of Gainesville, went through the gates of Heaven on June 7, 2020. He fought his battle of life from an early age, and lived life to its fullest. There was never a challenge he didn't face head on.
He amazed all that knew him as we watched him face total blindness the last 19 years of his life. He adapted life around himself. He was very talented. He taught himself to play guitar, build and operate monster remote cars, work on cars, and a master chef of his own making. He was an avid Dallas Cowboys and Texas Longhorn fan. It made for some great Texas/OU weekends as his wife and mother are OU fans. Most of all, John loved to fish more than anything else, and he had no problem telling you that his Nannie taught him everything he knew.
Matt is survived by his devoted and loving wife, Jessica Caraway of Gainesville; mother Debi Nunn and her husband, his bonus dad, Eddie of Gainesville; father Jim Caraway and his wife Shayne of Colorado Springs, CO; mother-in-law Sharlene Hinshaw of Oak Ridge; brother-in-law Allen Tramell and his wife April of Oak Ridge; nieces and nephew, "the joys of his life", Kermmisha Trammell, Tristan Trammell, Kaden Trammell, Logan Trammell, and Nicholas Trammell; brother Joey Caraway of Oklahoma City, OK;' brother Jay Caraway of Oklahoma City, OK; uncle Gerald Turnham and his wife Lynne of Keno, OR; uncle Garry Davis of Durant, OK; aunt Lisa Jones of Paducah, KY; aunt Deborah Abi of Alabama;uncle Luke Nunn and his wife Carol of Gainesville; aunt Debbie Brackeen of Gainesville; aunt Julia Cook and her husband Don of Gainesville; and uncle Don Eugster and his wife Roslyn of Gainesville. He is also survived by his fur babies JC, Zeva, Scooby, Shaggy, and Lea-Lei.
He was preceded in death by his brother Jamie Caraway; grandmother Shirlean Taylor; grandmother Ruth Davis; grandmother Lyndell Odle; grandmother Margie Nunn; grandfather Roy Davis; grandfather Rufus Turnham; grandfather Luther Nunn; and grandfather Frank Taylor.
