Graveside services for John Nemeth, 86, of Gainesville, are scheduled for 1:30 PM on Friday, March 8, 2019 at New Hope Cemetery with Fr. John Pacheco officiating. The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 7:00 PM on Thursday, March 7 at Geo. J. Carroll & Son Funeral Home.
Mr. Nemeth passed away March 5, 2019 in Gainesville.
John was born June 18, 1932 in Güssing, Austria to Aladar and Johanna (Paukovitz) Nemeth. He immigrated to the United States in 1953, settling in New York City, NY, where he worked as a driver for UPS, retiring following 40 years of service. Mr. Nemeth married Lunetta Privett in Gainesville in April of 2002. He enjoyed gardening – caring for vegetables and flowers, fixing things around the house, and absolutely loved Christmas time.
Survivors include: son John Nemeth Jr. and wife Erika of Hopatcong, NJ; daughter Annie Danielle and husband Eugene of Florida; stepdaughter Danetta Whisnant and husband Dale of Brenham; stepdaughter Susan Meniz and husband José of Burnet; stepson Sonny Privett and wife Karen of Gainesville; stepdaughter Mary Hargesheimer of Gainesville; stepson Lindy Privett and wife Shelley of Allen; stepson Tommy Privett of Brenham; stepdaughter Christie Sewell and husband Chad of Gainesville; stepson Jody Privett and wife Debbie of McKinney; numerous beloved grandchildren; great-grandchildren; and great-great-grandchildren; sister Helen Stelzman of Pennsylvania; and dear friends Andy and Elizabeth Komar of New York City, NY.
Mr. Nemeth was preceded in death by: his parents; wife Lunetta Nemeth; sister Maria Haas; brother Steven Nemeth; sister Rose Nemeth; son Steven Nemeth; and stepson-in-law Mike Hargesheimer.
Memorial contributions may be made to Noah’s Ark Animal Shelter.
