Johnny Lee Barthold

Funeral services for Johnny Lee Barthold, 89, of Era, are set for 1:00 PM Thursday, May 13, 2021 at the Era Baptist Church with the Rev. Daniel Jones officiating. Burial will follow in the Era Cemetery under the direction of the Geo. J. Carroll & Son Funeral Home. A visitation will be held on Wednesday, May 12, 2021 from 6:00 - 8:00 PM at the Geo. J. Carroll & Son Funeral Home.

Johnny was born on February 7, 1932 in Krum to Frank Barthold and Opal (Harris) Barthold. He passed away on May 8, 2021 in Gainesville.

Johnny drove a truck most of his life, and retired from Gainesville Fuel. Most of his customers knew him as JB. While married to his wife, Patsy, of 62 years, they (he) enjoyed fishing, and going to the lake and camping. When the Texas Baptist Men came to Era to help build the Era Baptist Church, he and Patsy enjoyed helping build the church so much, they decided to join them helping build others in Texas, Louisiana, North Dakota, and Old Mexico. They helped feed the people in Louisiana after Hurricane Katrina.

Johnny is survived by his son Bobby Barthold and wife Tricia of Valley View; daughter Brenda Miller and husband Randy of Era; son Frankie Barthold and his wife Darlene of Era; grandchildren Cori Sutherland (Kurt), Chance Bathold (Sheena), Abby Enoch (Kirby), Bria Ballard, Tiffany Pruett (Preston), Shanda Miller, Cason Miller (Brandi), Misty Parker (Ray), and Kristy Andrews (Bob Carpenter); great-grandchildren Canyon Ramsey, Kate Ramsey, Cope Thomason, Deegan Barthold, Gemma Enoch (arriving soon), Brenna Ballard, Liberty Ballard, Paislee Pruett, Hayes Pruett, Mylie Miller, Stefani Tucker, Hailee Janek (Blake), Karlee Tucker, Miranda Parker, Talon Andrews, and Taryn Andrews; great-great-grandchildren Korbyn Rundell, and Stoney Porter. He is also survived by his brother Wilbur Barthold and wife Shirley; sister Martha Lawson and husband Jimmy; sister Sherian Dyer and husband Gene; sister Margie Alsup; sister-in-law Ima Delle Barthold; sister-in-law Shirley Barthold; sister-in-law Paulette Hudspeth; and brother-in-law Clarence “Dink” Hudspeth and his wife Rose.

He was preceded in death by his wife Patsy; parents; grandson-in-law Steve Tucker; sister Pauline Brumlit; brother Wallace Barthold; brother Lewis Barthold; father-in-law and mother-in-law Clarence and Frances Hudspeth; brother-in-law Daniel "Butch" Hudspeth; sister-in-law Peggy Hammer; special cousin Otis Barthold.

Serving as pallbearers are: Bobby Barthold, Frankie Barthold, Brenda Miller, Randy Miller, Chance Barthold, Cason Miller, and Canyon Ramsey.
