Johnny Benton Crawford, 79, of Callisburg, passed away November 12, 2021 in Sherman.
Johnny was born November 18, 1941. He grew up in Cooke County and attended school in Woodbine. Mr. Crawford followed his father into the carpenter trade, then spent most of his career as a butcher, eventually becoming a rancher in retirement. He was a skilled baseball player well into adulthood and enjoyed boating, but absolutely loved fishing. Mr. Crawford married Lujuana Dutton on April 4, 1996 in Gainesville. He will be fondly remembered as a loving family man and for his quick wit and tender heart.
Survivors include: wife, Lujuana Crawford of Callisburg; daughter, Kathy Carpenter and husband, David of Valley View; daughter, Sandy Crawford of Pilot Point; son, Darrell Crawford and wife, Deanna of Callisburg; step-daughter, Cindy Wood of Gainesville; step-son, Greg Lowry and wife, Debby of Gainesville; step-son, Robert Lowry of Gainesville; step-son, Jeff Lowry and wife Diane of Gainesville; 16 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; and sister-in-law, Sue Crawford of Azle.
Mr. Crawford was preceded in death by: parents, Tom and Ida Mae (Day) Crawford; sister, Annamae Dornbusch; sister, Fay Adams; brother, Jack Crawford; and sister, Norma Shelton.
A graveside service is scheduled for 2:00 P.M. on Wednesday, November 17, 2021 at the pavilion of Callisburg Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 5:30 to 7:30 on Tuesday, November 16 at Geo. J. Carroll & Son Funeral Home.
