Johnny Holbert Koonce

A Funeral Mass for Johnny Holbert Koonce, 83, of Gainesville, will be held at 10:00 AM on Thursday, October 4, 2018 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church with Fr. John Pacheco officiating.  Burial will follow in the Fairview Cemetery.  A rosary, with a visitation to follow, will be held at 6:30 PM on Wednesday at the Geo. J. Carroll & Son Funeral Home.

Mr. Koonce was born on April 19, 1935 in Thackerville, OK to Leo and Lena Francis (Bratcher) Koonce.

Johnny spent the majority of his life in law enforcement, retiring as a Captain with the Texas Department of Public Safety.

Mr. Koonce is survived by his son Kenny Koonce of Gainesville; daughter and son-in-law Sharyn and Terry Hope of Katy; son and daughter-in-law Brandon and Claire Yancey of Fort Worth; brother Grady Koonce of Thackerville.

Johnny was preceded in death by his parents; his wife Della Koonce; brother Clayton Koonce; sister Merle Koonce; brother James Leo Koonce.
