Funeral services for Joyce Mae (Baldwin) Wilson, 88, long-time resident of Levelland, most recently of Gainesville, are scheduled for 11:00 AM on Friday, November 8, 2019 at Temple Baptist Church with Dr. Eddie Chenault officiating. Interment will follow at Fairview Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 7:30 PM on Thursday, November 7 at Geo. J. Carroll & Son Funeral Home.
Mrs. Wilson passed away November 3, 2019 in Gainesville.
Joyce was born July 26, 1931 in Everett, WA to Albert Heagle and Viola Grace (Langley) Baldwin. She married Bill Wilson on December 24, 1950 in Everett, WA. Mrs. Wilson was a skilled musician, playing violin, piano, and having played saxophone in her college marching band. She also shared her musical talents with First Baptist Church of Levelland, where she was a long-standing member, by participating in the Sonshine Choir and bell choir. Mrs. Wilson was also a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution. She traveled the world with Mr. Wilson, having visited several continents and numerous countries. Mrs. Wilson took great pride in being a homemaker. She was a talented cook, decorator, gardener, and had a particular soft spot for her beloved dogs, Miki and Cracker. Mrs. Wilson’s spirit will be remembered through her cookbook she compiled for her children. She will be most fondly remembered by how fiercely she loved her family.
Survivors include: husband Bill Wilson of Gainesville; daughter Joy Bailey and husband Ronnie of Lubbock; son Mike Wilson and wife Becky of Clute; daughter Judy Stone and husband Butch of Gainesville; daughter Nancy Wilson-Rhodes and husband John of Aurora, CO; grandchildren: Rhonda Lauritz, Charissa Courtney (Trey), Aaron Bailey (Jennifer), Amber Angel (Ronnie), Shelly Stone, April Stone, Aubrey Rhodes, and Madison Rhodes; great-grandchildren: Rebecca, Ian, Chandler, Anna Grace, and Elizabeth Mae; and sister Arvella Gibson of Everett, WA.
Mrs. Wilson was preceded in death by: her parents; and sister Grace Kopperstad.
Memorial contributions may be made to: American Diabetes Association, Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation, or Home Hospice of Cooke County.
The family wishes to extend their gratitude to Wesley House Assisted Living and Home Hospice of Cooke County for the wonderful care shown to Mrs. Wilson.
