Karen Louise Brooks

June 25, 1958 — January 19, 2019

A Memorial Mass for Karen Louise Brooks, 60, of Gainesville, will be held at 10:00 AM on Friday, January 25, 2019 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church with Fr. John Pacheco officiating.  A rosary will be recited with a visitation to follow at 6:00 PM on Thursday at the Geo. J. Carroll & Son Funeral Home.

Karen passed away Saturday, January 19, 2019 peacefully at home with her husband by her side.

Karen was born in Fresno, California on June 25, 1958 to Lloyd and Esther Waits.  She graduated Gainesville High School.  Karen met Ronnie Brooks and the two married on March 4, 1977.  She was secretary at St. Mary’s for many years before pursuing her dream of owning her own quilt shop, Pass Time Fabrics.

Karen loved spending time with her grandsons, bowling, watching the Texas Rangers play, and quilting for friends, family and charities.

Karen is survived by her husband Ronnie; son and daughter-in-law Corey and Lorrie Brooks; son and son-in-law Adam Brooks and Bradley Hils; grandsons Logan and Cooper Brooks; brother Andy Waits; mother-in-law Juanita Brooks.

Karen was preceded in death by her parents and father-in-law.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Mary’s Catholic School, 931 N. Weaver, Gainesville, TX 76240.
