Kathleen "Kathy" Lucy Dodson

Kathy Dodson, 72, of Gainesville, passed away August 8, 2022 in Gainesville.

Kathy was born April 15, 1950 in El Paso, TX.  She graduated from Bel Air High School in El Paso then received her nursing degree from Cooke County Junior College.  Kathy was a Registered Nurse for over 25 years, working mostly at Texas Oncology in Denton.  She took great pride in the care given to her patients.  Over the years she also had many pets she cared for deeply.  Kathy was a devoted and loving mother to her son, Justin, and treasured the moments spent with family.

Kathy was preceded in death by: son Justin Matthew Dodson; parents Harold E. and Cleo (Johnson) Wyrick; brother and sister-in-law Bernard and Donna Bonar; brother Edwin Wyrick; sister Wanda Snell; and brother-in-law Paul Stamper.

Survivors include: sister Georgia Stamper; sister Betty Jo Carroll and husband Stan; nephew Jeremy Carroll, his wife Melinda and their children Andrew and Jonathan; niece Pam Carlson, her husband Jeff and their children Bryce and Troy; nephew Sean Carroll; and other numerous nieces & nephews; great-nieces & nephews; great-great-nieces and nephews; and great-great-great-niece and nephew.

A memorial service is scheduled for 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, August 13, 2022, at Geo. J. Carroll & Son Funeral Home.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to an organization specializing in the research or treatment of cancer.
