Kathleen McLeroy was born in Dallas, TX on May 20th, 1955, to Margaret Ann Isbell McLeroy and Robert Lee McLeroy M.D. She died January 27th, 2025 in Gainesville, TX.
Kathy was raised in Gainesville and graduated from Gainesville High School in 1973. She graduated from the University of Texas with a degree in speech pathology, and from the University of North Texas with a master’s degree in Audiology. Her career included working for ENT physicians, and independently in her own business. She began working in Sherman, TX for Dr. Frank Looney and later began Plano Hearing Aid Company. She also worked for the Veterans Administration in Belton, TX for a few years. She worked for Entific for several years, helping ENT surgeons surgically place cochlear implants in the operating room for patients with severe hearing loss. Her sales numbers were the best in the United States one year and the best in the world the next. Eventually she moved to Pendaries Village, NM, working for Alta Vista hospital in Las Vegas, NM, until her retirement.
Kathy was diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis at age 25. She was told she would live about 30 years at best. She struggled with independent living until that became impossible. Her determination and tenacity were an inspiration to many who knew her.
Kathy was a committed Christian who believed in the salvation of her soul by faith in Lord Jesus Christ.
She was preceded in death by her parents Dr. Robert Lee McLeroy and Margaret Ann Isbell McLeroy, and her sister Rebecca Schafer.
She is survived by her siblings Dr. Robert R. McLeroy and wife Melodye, Patricia Poore and husband Ralph of Arlington, TX, and LeAnn Santone and husband Ken or Las Vegas, NV., numerous cousins, nieces and nephews, wonderful friends, and her pet dog Cowboy.
Her memorial service will be held at the Geo. J. Carroll & Son Funeral Home on Friday, February 21st, at 3:00 pm.
