Kenneth "Butch" Hughes Mitchell, Jr.

Funeral services for Kenneth Hughes “Butch” Mitchell, Jr., 82, of Gainesville, will be held at 2:00 PM Saturday, February 15, 2025 at Geo. J. Carroll & Son Funeral Home with Rev. Duke Dowling officiating.  Burial will follow in Fairview Cemetery.  A rosary will be recited followed by a visitation on Friday from 5:30 to 7:00 PM.

Mr. Mitchell passed away February 11, 2025 in Denton.  He was born January 13, 1943 in Gainesville, to Kenneth Hughes Mitchell, Sr. and Dorothy Augusta “Becker” Mitchell.

Butch is survived by mother Dorothy Mitchell of Gainesville; daughter Dr. Marilyn Mitchell of Denton; son and daughter-in-law David and Alisha Fuhrmann of Gainesville; daughter and son-in-law Brandi Fuhrmann and Cody Shell of Gainesville; grandchildren:  Andrew, Zieq, Alex, America, Mady, Cody Joe, and Kenzi.

Mr. Mitchell was preceded in death by his dad, wife Shirley, and son Charles Mitchell.

Butch was a 3rd generation owner/operator of a heating and air conditioning company, owning Mitchell Heating and Air Conditioning for over 60 years.  He enjoyed farming and ranching, fishing and hunting (especially dove hunting), he loved shooting skeet and trap.

Mr. Mitchell never met a stranger.  He’s the perfect definition of a “people person” and was a good neighbor to all those in the Hood Community.
