Kenneth Lee Cravens

Funeral services for Kenneth Lee Cravens, 82, of Gainesville, are scheduled for 2:00 PM on Thursday, August 15, 2019 at Geo. J. Carroll & Son Funeral Home with Johnny Moore officiating.  Interment will follow at Fairview Cemetery.  The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 PM on Wednesday, August 14 at the funeral home.

Mr. Cravens passed away August 11, 2019 in Gainesville.

Kenneth was born August 19, 1936 in Muenster to Walter and Nannie (Clark) Cravens.  He married Barbara McGilvray on July 19, 1956 in Woodbine.  Mr. Cravens coached women’s softball, girls’ softball, and boy’s baseball for over 30 years.  After coaching, he assisted Barbara in running concessions for another 15 years.  He worked for Gainesville I.S.D. for many years and will be dearly missed.

Survivors include: wife of 63 years, Barbara Cravens of Gainesville; daughter Kathy Leverett of Woodbine; daughter Kristy Wilson and husband Brian of Gainesville; son Wendel Cravens of Houston; brother Bobby Cravens of Oklahoma; grandchildren: Josh Leverett and Misty Leverett of Lake Kiowa, Rachel Price and Skyler Wilson of Gainesville, and Kevin Cravens of Callisburg; nine great-grandchildren; and brothers-in-law: Lee McGilvray of Gainesville, Melvin McGilvray of Gainesville, and Richard McGilvray of Mississippi.

Mr. Cravens was preceded in death by: parents Walter and Nannie Cravens; sister Dorothy McGee; son-in-law Ronnie Leverett; mother-in-law Hazel Argo; and father-in-law Edgar McGilvray.

Serving as pallbearers are: Lee McGilvray, Josh Leverett, Tegan Lindsey, Steve Kessler, Brian Wilson, Kevin Cravens, and Skyler Wilson.
