On July 18, 1951, Kenneth (Ken/Butch) W. Kretzinger II was born in Odessa, Texas to Kenneth W. and Opal Etta (Anderson) Kretzinger. On March 18, 2025, Ken stepped into eternity to be with his Saviour.
As a young boy in 1958 at Monahans Baptist Church (Pastor R. F. Simmons), Ken put his full faith and trust in Jesus to save him and he accepted Him as his Personal Saviour. Ken was raised in the Independent Fundamental Baptist faith and at the time of his passing was a member of Victory Baptist Church, an IFB church in Sanger, Texas (Pastor Robert Graf). Ken was raised in West Texas around the Monahans area.
In 1969, He graduated from Monahans High School and the next year joined the Army where he honorably served for the next “twenty years, four months, and two days, but who counts days.” He was stationed in several locations around the world including one tour in South Korea and three tours in Germany.
In 1987 on his third tour in Germany, he met his wife Janeda Johnson who was in the Air Force. They were married on April 24, 1988, at St. Paul’s Church of Christ in Trail Run, Ohio.
Ken retired from the Army in 1990, and his wife Janeda was honorably discharged 2 years later. They drove truck together until 1997 when Janeda came off the road. Ken continued to drive truck until he retired in 2016.
Ken was preceded in death by his father, his mother, and his brother Tommy Kretzinger. He is survived by his wife of 36 years, Janeda L. Kretzinger of Gainesville, Texas; his son, Kenneth (Trey) W. Kretzinger III and wife Jennifer N. Kretzinger of Overton, Texas; his grandchildren, Kenneth (William) Kretzinger IV and Harper L. Kretzinger; his sister, Geraldine Redmon and husband Raymond Redmon of Katy, Texas; his brother Robert Kretzinger and wife Trudie Kretzinger of Fort Worth, Texas.
The family will receive friends on Monday, March 31, from 6:00 to 7:00 p.m., at Geo. J. Carroll & Son Funeral Home, Gainesville. A funeral service will begin at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, April 1 at Victory Baptist Church, Sanger. A committal service will begin at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, April 1 at Dallas-Fort Worth National Cemetery, Dallas. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Victory Baptist Church, Sanger, TX. You may register condolences online at www.geojcarroll.com.
