Kenny Fitts

Funeral services for Kenneth Mac Fitts, 72, of Gainesville, are scheduled for 10:00 AM on Monday, July 2, 2018 at Temple Baptist Church, with Dr. Eddie Chenault officiating.  Interment will follow at Fairview Cemetery.  The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 7:00 PM on Sunday, July 1 at Geo. J. Carroll & Son Funeral Home.

Mr. Fitts passed away June 27, 2018 in Gainesville.

Kenny was born October 18, 1945 in Gainesville to McLooney (Mac) and Gladys Lucille (Mackey) Fitts.  He was a member of the 1964 graduating class of Gainesville High School.  To fulfill his desire to help people, Mr. Fitts pursued a career in law enforcement, serving with the Cooke County Sheriff’s Department and Gainesville Police Department.  He also enjoyed operating his own landscaping company for many years.  Most recently, he retired from the City of Gainesville in 2015.

Mr. Fitts married Benelle Dishman Burton on November 30, 1973 in Gainesville.  They enjoyed traveling, taking their fifth-wheel as far as Alaska.  They especially enjoyed Hawaii and going on cruises.  Mr. Fitts was the true definition of a family man.  He was a proud father and grandfather, spending as much time as he could with his family.

Survivors include: wife Benelle Fitts of Gainesville; son Robin Fitts and wife Molly of Snyder; daughter-in-law Lisa McDougald and husband Mike of Iola; and grandchildren: Catherine Burton McDougald, Jenna McDougald, and Samantha Fitts.

Mr. Fitts was preceded in death by: his parents; and son Billy Burton.
