Kenny Otto

February 24, 1941 — July 23, 2020

A memorial service for Kenneth Leroy Otto, 79, of Gainesville, is scheduled for 2:00 PM on Friday, July 31, 2020 at Geo. J. Carroll & Son Funeral Home with Fr. Kyle Walterscheid officiating.  A Rosary will be recited at 9:30 AM on Friday at the funeral home, prior to a private committal service at Sacred Heart Cemetery.

Kenny was born February 24, 1941 in Muenster to John Alphonse and Mathilda Marie (Hoenig) Otto and attended Sacred Heart schools.  Mr. Otto began his career in the automotive industry as a mechanic and eventually opened Otto’s Garage in 1964.  In the early 1980s, he expanded into sales and opened Otto’s Auto Sales in Gainesville.  Mr. Otto first ventured into motorsports through drag racing, but found his true love in Enduro motorcycle racing in 1966, a passion he remained involved with until recently.  Along with his numerous other awards and trophies, he was very proud of having received a Lifetime Achievement Award and having been inducted into the Texas Enduro Hall of Fame.  Mr. Otto’s other hobbies consisted of spending time with family at the lake and camping.

Survivors include: son Keith Otto of Gainesville; son Dwayne Otto and wife Tami of Muenster; son Brian Otto of Gainesville; eight grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; sister Dolores (Dolly) Jeanette Otto Davis and husband Oliver R. Davis; brother James (Jim) Alfred Otto and wife Shirley Agnes Klement Otto; sister LaVern (Vernie) Marie Otto; brother Jerome (Jerry) John Otto; sister Marilyn Ann Otto Carlisle and husband Kenny Carlisle; sister Carla Rose Otto Wilson and husband Tracy Paul Wilson; and brother Edward Joseph Otto and wife Bernadette.

Mr. Otto was preceded in death by: parents John and Tillie Otto; sister Sharon Emma Lee Otto; brother Anthony (Tony) Alois Otto; brother Thomas (Tom) Eugene Patrick Otto; and sister Earlene Marie Otto Dennington.

Memorial contributions may be made to: American Motorcyclist Association, Cal Farley’s Boys Ranch, or a cancer research.
