Lanny Ray Dickerson

Funeral services for Lanny Dickerson, 70, of Woodbine, are scheduled for 2:00 PM on Friday, October 5, 2018 at Geo. J. Carroll & Son Funeral Home with Pastor Larry Eberhart officiating.  Interment will follow at Nelson Grove Cemetery.  The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 PM on Thursday, October 4 at the funeral home.

Mr. Dickerson passed away October 1, 2018 in Woodbine.

Lanny was born October 5, 1947 in Gainesville to Roger Melton and Ruth (Clark) Dickerson.  He graduated from Gainesville High School.  On May 15, 1965, Lanny married Linda Fay Ing in Gainesville.  He was retired from a successful career with Santa Fe Railroad.  Mr. Dickerson will be remembered for his practical jokes, generous and caring spirit, and the loved he shared with family and extended family.  He enjoyed camping, fishing, and mentoring his children and grandchildren by coaching their sports teams.  His greatest joy in life was family; particularly his grandchildren.

Survivors include: wife of 53 years, Linda Dickerson of Woodbine; son Jimmy Dickerson of Woodbine; son Larry D. Dickerson and wife Rose of Woodbine; grandchildren: Colten, Dustin, and Amberly (and her friend Rance Sanborn); sister Lana Terrell of Thackerville, OK; brother Harry Dickerson of Thackerville, OK; and Mr. Dickerson’s beloved dog, Zorro.

Mr. Dickerson was preceded in death by: his parents; brother Jerry Dickerson; and brother Larry Dickerson.

Mr. Dickerson’s grandsons, nephews, and close family friends will be serving as pallbearers.
