Larry Dallas Pool

Funeral services with military honors for Larry Dallas Pool, 77, of Gainesville, are scheduled for 10:00 AM on Thursday, May 21, 2020 at Geo. J. Carroll & Son Funeral Home with Darlene Conner officiating.  The family will receive friends from 5:00 to 7:00 PM on Wednesday, May 20 at the funeral home.  Mr. Pool will be interred at Dallas-Fort Worth National Cemetery with private services.

Mr. Pool passed away May 17, 2020 in Gainesville.

Larry was born in Akron, OH on September 3, 1942 to Dallas Arnold and Flossie Mae (Hambers) Pool.  He married Ruby Jane Scroggins in DeWitt, AR on June 23, 1963.  Mr. Pool served over 22 years in the armed forces, including nine years in the U.S. Army and 13 years in the Texas National Guard.  He was also a police officer, serving five years in Pine Bluff, AR and five years in Gainesville.  Mr. Pool was also employed for five years at the Denton State School, five years at Gainesville State School, and three years as Cooke Counties Veteran’s Service Officer.  He loved going to church, attending gospel concerts, fishing, and spending time with friends at Stanford House.  Above all, he loved his family deeply.

Survivors include: wife of 56 years, Ruby J. Pool; son Larry Dallas Pool, Jr. and wife Jennifer of Gainesville; daughter-in-law and mother of Larry’s three grandchildren, Lee Ann LaFlamme Pool of Fate, TX; granddaughters: Michelle Pool, Heather Bell and husband Chris, and Meagan Pool, all of Gainesville; five great-grandchildren: Carson Skaggs, Landyn Gordzelik, Kayden Schumacher, Gracelynn Bell, and Hadley Bell; three sisters: Virginia Fisher, Barbara Carter, and Susan Davenport; and brother Danny Pool.

Mr. Pool was preceded in death by: parents Dallas Arnold and Flossie Mae Pool; and brother Bruce Arnold Pool.
