Lavern Griffith Stewart

Funeral services for LaVern Griffith Stewart, 94, of Gainesville, are set for 10:00 AM Tuesday, September 4, 2018 at the Geo. J. Carroll & Son Funeral Home with Rev. Larry Kremling officiating and Rev. Jason Hobbs assisting.  Burial will follow in the Oak Grove Cemetery.  A visitation will be held at the funeral home from 5:00 to 6:00 PM Monday.

LaVern was born to Elijah and Lela Riley Griffith on July 23, 1924 in Dundee, TX.  She was married to the love of her life, Oliver Clinton “Friday” Stewart on December 22, 1941.  She was a long time member of Calvary Baptist Church.

Mrs. Stewart is survived by two daughters and sons-in-law:  Linda Stewart Moore with husband Wayne of Gainesville and Sheila Rowland with husband Doug of Mesquite; two sons and daughters-in-law:  Clinton William Stewart with wife Mary of Gainesville and Rocky Glover with Barbara of McKinney; 11 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; 9 great-great grandchildren.  She is also survived by many loving nieces and nephews.

LaVern was preceded in death by her parents; husband O.C. Stewart; son Ricky Glover; all of her siblings.

Pallbearers will be Chris Miller, Zack Miller, Eddie Miller, Brycen Whitaker, Connor Tobias, and Jacob Arth.  Honorary pallbearers are Anthony Hurst and Brody Stewart.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Calvary Baptist Church, 900 S. Wine St., Gainesville, TX 76240.
