Lawrence was born July 17, 1937, in Amarillo, TX, the fourth of five children of Leo and Rosa Voth Neusch. He attended Lindsay School to seventh grade. Lawrence married Clara Fleitmann on August 3, 1957, at Sacred Heart Church, Muenster. The couple lived north of Lindsay and were the parents of three sons: Michael Paul, born May 22, 1958; Gilbert Joseph, born June 22, 1959; and James Anthony, born July 9, 1964.
Lawrence worked in several different occupations, starting off with farming on the homeplace, then on to working in the oilfield with his brother-in-law Victor Koelzer, until he started his water well business. Lawrence began the water well business shortly after the couple was married. After being unable to purchase a rig, Lawrence built his own service rig, which he used until the mid-1980s. ln 1982, Lawrence and his son James bought a drilling rig and began drilling water wells in addition to the service work they were already doing. The drilling operation encompassed a four-county area in North Texas. In addition to building his first service rig, Lawrence innovated in many other ways, crafting his own tooling and fishing devices for the well business.
Lawrence was an avid gardener and enjoyed sharing his produce with neighbors and friends. He also enjoyed hunting and fishing, riding motorcycles, and riding his bicycle around the neighborhood in more recent years.
Lawrence was preceded in death by his parents; sister Marie Koelzer and brother-in-law Victor Koelzer; sister Bertha Knabe and brother-in-law Harold Knabe; brothers-in-law Joe Moster and Gene Pelzel; and nephew Brad Knabe.
Lawrence was also preceded in death by two daughters-in-law, Jeri Lyn (York) Neusch and Gina Annette (Sullivan) Neusch.
Survivors include Lawrence's wife, Clara Neusch of Lindsay; son Michael of Canton; son Gilbert and wife Cathy of Weatherford; and son James and wife Laura of Lindsay. He is also survived by granddaughter Erin (Neusch) Bendiksen and husband Evan; stepdaughter Crystal York; grandson Jacob Neusch and wife Ciara; and granddaughters Patricia Neusch and Shawna Neusch. Lawrence is also survived by two great-granddaughters, Everleigh and Eleanor Bendiksen, and a great-grandson, Dakota Neusch.
