Lee Aldon Killgore, 98, of Gainesville, passed away January 6, 2023 in Oklahoma City, OK.
Mr. Killgore was born January 21, 1924 in Fort Worth. He married Mary Louise Hager on December 31, 1943 in Jacksonville, FL. Mr. Killgore was a Naval Aviator in the Pacific Theater during World War II. He retired from a fulfilling career with the State of Alaska as a social worker. Mr. Killgore was an avid golfer, member and officer of the Lion’s Club, and a devoted member of St. Paul’s Episcopal Church. His greatest joy was spending time with his children and foster children.
Mr. Killgore was preceded in death by: wife of 76 years, Mary Killgore; parents A.C. and Ada (Morgan) Killgore; daughter Allison Killgore; daughter Gayle Killgore; and several siblings.
Survivors include: daughter Sally Weprin and husband Matthew of Austin; daughter Becky Watkins and husband Lee of Anchorage, AK; grandchildren Beth Meade, Andrew Meade, Michael Watkins, Bohannon Watkins III, Melissa Weprin, and Shelby Weprin; 15 great-grandchildren; 4 great-great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
A memorial service is scheduled for 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, January 21, 2023, at St. Paul’s Episcopal Church, Gainesville.
Memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
