Leonard Dale Scott

September 30, 1947 — March 6, 2024

Funeral services for Leonard Dale Scott, 76, of Muenster, TX are scheduled for Monday, March 11, 2024 at Geo J. Carroll & Son Funeral Home in Gainesville, TX with Brother Johnny Reed officiating.  Visitation will be held starting at 1PM and funeral at 2PM with burial to follow at Rest Haven cemetery.

Leonard “Dale” Scott was born on September 30, 1947 in Gainesville, TX to Frank and Imogene Scott, the fourth of nine children.  He grew up near the Red River and spent most of his young life fishing and hunting with family and friends.  He graduated from Thackerville High School in 1966 and shortly after enlisted in the United States Army at 19 years of age.  Dale was sent to Fort Leonard Wood, Missouri for basic training and stationed at Fort Lewis, Washington joining the 22nd Engineer Company.  He proudly served his country as a wheel tractor operator in Vietnam until 1969, serving for 2 years 11 months and 28 days.

Dale was a proud veteran and a man of strong faith.

After the military, Dale started his lifelong career at BNSF Railway working with heavy equipment for 32 years where he made lasting friendships.  On December 18, 2000 he married the love of his life and best friend, Laujuana Scott.

Dale and his wife Laujuana resided in Thackerville, OK until moving to Muenster, TX in 2013.  Dale loved spending time with family and friends and quickly adopted his grandkids as his own children.  He so heartedly enjoyed supporting his grandkids at sporting events.  Muenster football, baseball, softball, cheerleading, and track were some of his favorite past-times.  Dale’s other hobbies included watching the Dallas Cowboys, Texas Rangers, John Wayne westerns, camping with family, spending time with his beloved dog Abby, and the occasional visit to Winstar where he routinely “hit the jackpot”.

Dale will be remembered for being a gentle giant, with the kindest soul.

He is survived by his wife, Laujuana of 24 years, step-children Connie and husband Craig Stoffels, Brian “Bubba” and wife Melinda Klement, grandchildren Emily (Tyler) Rohmer, Brianna (James) Rust, Sadie (Tyler) Anderle, Zach  (fiancé Callie) Klement, Andrew Stoffels and three great-grandchildren Jayton Rust, Charlie Rust & Archie Anderle, brothers Harold (Rita) Scott and Gary Scott, sisters Dolores (David) Milam and Martha (Mark) Smith, sister-in-law Trish (Tommy) Reynolds, brother-in-laws Donnie (Sherry) Morrow, Lonnie (Peggy Sue) Morrow. Dale is also survived by many nieces and nephews that were so special to him.

Dale is preceded in death by his parents and siblings Elaine Winters, Frankie Jean Ellison, Ira Scott, and Tommy Scott, brother in law Ronnie Morrow.

Laujuana and family would like to thank all for their comfort and prayers.

Well done, good and faithful servant. Matthew 25:23
