The family of Mary Louise Russell Miles mourns the passing of their beautiful loved one. Louise left our wonderful Earth at the age of 93 on January 20, 2023 and is peacefully at home with her Heavenly Father.
Louise was born in Sivells Bend, Texas on March 22, 1929, to Willie Imogene Ellis Russell and Millard Patrick Russell. She grew up in Sivells Bend, attended Sivells Bend Elementary School and graduated from Gainesville High in 1945. Cooke County was her lifelong residence. She is preceded in death by her parents, her sister Flora Russell Lawler, and brother Dick Russell.
Louise was mother to Sue Dillard Campbell and Joe “Pinky” Dillard. She raised them and gave her children the experience of the country life in the farming/ranching community of Sivells Bend. The young family actively participated in the community especially the Sivells Bend Elementary School and the Bear Head Baptist Church. The family was involved in the 4-H Club – Sue and Pinky as club members and their parents as adult leaders. While living in Sivells Bend, Louise was an active participant and member of the Home Demonstration Club. She also enjoyed her Eastern Star membership in the Marysville, Texas Chapter. She moved from Sivells Bend in 1965 to Gainesville, Texas where she lived the remaining years of her life.
When she was not working at the Gainesville National Bank, Farm Bureau, Weber Aircraft, Superior Pipe Threading, Cooke County Courthouse or Winstar Casino she enjoyed playing volleyball, swimming, and having friends and family visit her to “talk about old times”. Louise loved people and was a “people person”. She was a member of the First Baptist Church, Gainesville, Texas.
Louise is survived by her children, Sue and Pinky, and wife, Alexis; grandchildren, Shannon Dillard and Lance Campbell; and great-grandchildren, Chloe Campbell, Jack Campbell, and Claire Campbell. She is also survived by numerous cousins, nieces, and nephews.
A funeral service is scheduled for 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, January 26, 2023 at Geo. J. Carroll & Son Funeral Home. Interment will follow at New Resthaven Cemetery.
