Lynn Maynard Williams, 89, longtime resident of Valley View, most recently of Denton, passed away May 4, 2022 in Denton.
Lynn was born March 1, 1933 in Montague County, TX, the youngest of eight children to Calvin and Estelle (Campbell) Williams. He graduated from high school in Saint Jo, where he also played football. Following graduation, Mr. Williams worked for the forestry service in Northern Idaho. Mr. Williams received his Bachelor’s Degree in Business from the University of Texas at Austin and a Master’s Degree from East Texas State University. Mr. Williams married Beryl Williams on January 25, 1958 in Washington D.C. They met there while Mr. Williams was in the Marine Corps and served in the honor guard at Arlington National Cemetery. He was a high school teacher and coach in Washington, MO, had a successful career with Southwestern Publishing Company as a sales representative, and for the final 20 years of his career, was a financial advisor with Edward Jones. Mr. Williams was an avid sports fan. He also enjoyed spending time in Jackson Hole, WY, hiking in the Rockies, raising cattle, traveling, and spending time with kids and grandkids.
Mr. Williams was preceded in death by: parents Calvin and Estelle (Campbell) Williams; wife of 55 years Beryl Williams; son Calvin Williams; son-in-law Jim Foster; one brother; and four sisters.
Survivors include: daughter Mary Ann Foster of Woodbine; daughter Gail Brodersen and husband Franz of Denton; daughter Pati Meyer and husband Doug of Highland Village; daughter-in-law Connie Williams of Valley View; son Danny Williams and wife Dawnita of Savoy; grandchildren: Ryan Foster, Ann-Marie Gentry, Nathan Brodersen, Kyle Akerman, Amanda Akerman, Alex Akerman, Keli Grounds, Kristin Collett, Zac Williams, Sergey Williams, Jonathan Williams, Jacob Williams, and Victoria Williams; numerous great-grandchildren; sister Billye Ruth Huchton of Denton; sister Joyce Bell of Lake Stevens, WA; and sister-in-law Betty Williams of Myra.
A graveside service is scheduled for 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, May 7, 2022, at the Fairview Cemetery pavilion (Gainesville). Mr. Williams will lie in repose at Geo. J. Carroll & Son Funeral Home from 1:00 to 7:00 p.m. on Friday, May 6.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to a charity of one’s choosing.
