Margarito Garcia

Margarito Garcia, 68, of Gainesville, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on February 2, 2023 in Denton.

Margarito was born on December 23, 1954, in “El Puerto del Sauz”, Tierra Nueva, S.L.P., MX, the eldest son of Martin Garcia Sanchez and Dominga Sanchez Miranda.  On December 12, 1978, he married Juana Hernandez and a month later they moved to Gainesville, TX to seek the American dream.  Together they raised five children.  Margarito was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and brother.  He enjoyed spending time with family, working outdoors, and playing his accordion.

Margarito was preceded in death by parents Martin Garcia and Dominga Sanchez; and brother Mario Garcia Sanchez.

Survivors include: wife Juana Garcia of Gainesville; daughter Elena Hernandez and husband Israel of Gainesville; son Martin Garcia of Gainesville; daughter Margarita Salas and husband Edward of Haltom City; son Higinio Garcia of Austin; son Migel Garcia and fiance Linda of Nashville, TN; grandchildren Thalia Estrada and husband Luis of Lewisville, Diego Hernandez, Angel and Zoey; ten brothers and sisters; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Serving as pallbearers are: Martin Garcia, Higinio Garcia, Migel Garcia, Gil Garcia, Israel Hernandez and Edward Salas.

A Rosary Service, followed by visitation, is scheduled for 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday, February 7, at Geo. J. Carroll & Son Funeral Home.  A Mass of Christian Burial is scheduled for 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, February 8, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church.  Interment will follow at Fairview Cemetery.
