Martha Cowgill Goin

Martha Cowgill Goin, 83, of Lindsay, TX, passed away February 11, 2023 at Medical City in Arlington, TX.

Martha was born March 5, 1939 in Nevada, TX and graduated from Community High School.  She was an administrative assistant in the Oil Well Division of U.S. Steel and then Betz Labs before a brief retirement.  Mrs. Goin then worked for H&R Block before her final retirement.  She enjoyed arts and crafts and operated a store on The Mountain in Canton, TX for a long period of time.

Survivors include: daughter Cheryl and her son Lee Daniel, son David Cornett and wife Susy of Lindsay and their children Franklin and Paisley, sister Johnie Smith and husband Max of Garland, TX, sister Peggy Marshall of Garland, and nieces and nephews: Lisa King (Ben Alford), Jan Godat (Mark), Darrell Marshall (Jackie), and Richard Smith (Amy).

Mrs. Goin was preceded in death by: parents Dare H. and Floy L. (Page) Cowgill; husband O.D. Goin Jr., sister and brother-in-law Billie and Dwayne Tucker, brother-in-law Johnnie Marshall, and niece Shannon Smith Meggs.

A Rosary Service, followed by visitation is scheduled for 6:00 p.m. on Thursday, February 16 at Geo. J. Carroll & Son Funeral Home, Gainesville.  A Mass of Christian Burial is scheduled for 10:00 a.m. on Friday, February 17 at St. Peter’s Catholic Church, Lindsay.  A Committal Service is scheduled for 2:30 p.m. on Friday at Nevada Cemetery, Nevada, TX.

Serving as pallbearers are: Frank Cornett, Dax Fleitman, Austin Reiter, Tanner King, Darrell Marshall, and Richard Smith.  Serving as honorary pallbearers are members of the “Marty Party Group”: Paul Sandmann, Ed Sandmann, Jerry Wimmer, and Leroy Neu.
