Mary Pauline Fox

Mary Fox, 85, of Gainesville, passed away May 14, 2023 in Gainesville, TX.

Mary was born April 2, 1938 in Marysville, TX. She was raised around Gainesville and graduated from Gainesville High School. Miss Fox continued her education at Cooke County Junior College, University of North Texas, and Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary. She taught school briefly in Washington State before entering the Mission Field. Miss Fox spent over two decades in Nigeria, West Africa where she witnessed to locals in the bush and taught college classes. Returning home, she was served as Librarian at Wayland Baptist University and directory of the library at Dallas Baptist University.

Miss Fox was a passionate volunteer for Mission Arlington and enjoyed following Texas Rangers Baseball. She also enjoyed traveling with her friends. Miss Fox had friends all over the world, but loved most her family, particularly her nieces and nephews, whom she treated as her own grandchildren.

Miss Fox was preceded in death by: parents Elmer V. and Pauline (Prestage) Fox; sister Martha Nell Daniel; and nephew Jerry Fox.

Survivors include: brother Jerry Fox of Houston; sister Carolyn Akin (Danny) of Gainesville; nieces and nephews Scherie Douglas of Houston, Toni Little of Carrollton, Carol Wooten of Piedmont, OK, Debbie Doty of Lebanon, IN; Charley Daniel of Frisco, Kelly Fox of Houston, Cindy Watson of Lindsay, Lori Embry of Newark, Paul Fox of San Francisco, CA, Derek Akin of Double Oak; and numerous grand-nieces and grand-nephews.

A funeral service is scheduled for 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, May 20, 2023, at Geo. J. Carroll & Son Funeral Home. A committal service will follow at Nelson Grove Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Mission Arlington in Arlington, TX.
