Helen Stobaugh, 88, of Gainesville, passed away February 22, 2023 in Gainesville.
Helen was born May 18, 1934 in Gainesville and graduated from Gainesville High School. She married Hebert Stobaugh on August 22, 1952 at Calvary Baptist Church in Gainesville. Mrs. Stobaugh worked at W.W. Howeth Abstract and the Cooke County Clerk’s office. She was also the consummate homemaker and assisted in her family’s dairy and farm business. Mrs. Stobaugh was a skilled gardener, seamstress, and cook, and treasured the times her family was gathered together. She was a member of Calvary Baptist Church and supported the Downard Fairplains Community Center.
Mrs. Stobaugh was preceded in death by: parents Edd and Allene (Savage) Hames; husband Herbert Stobaugh; and brother Louis Hames.
Survivors include: son Charles Stobaugh of Sanger; son Tim Stobaugh and wife Debbie of Gainesville; son Toby Stobaugh and wife Keela of Gainesville; grandchildren Charee Humphreys (Trevor), Tom Stobaugh (Tasha), Craig Stobaugh, Rachel Bowles (Daniel), Jared Stobaugh (Jessica), and Kacee Rauschuber (Chisam); 11 great-grandchildren; sister-in-law Betty Roane of Valley View; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
A funeral service is scheduled for 11:00 a.m. on Monday, February 27, 2023 at Geo. J. Carroll & Son Funeral Home. The family will receive friends beginning at 9:30 a.m. prior to the service. Interment at Fairview Cemetery will follow the service.
