Mary Louise Hager Killgore

August 10, 1927 — December 7, 2020

Mary Louise Hager Killgore passed away on December 7, 2020 in Gainesville, at the age of 93, with her husband of 76+ years by her side.  She was born August 10, 1927 in Fort Worth.   She attended Birdville High School.  She received her bachelor’s degree in Social Services from Arora University in Arora, Illinois.  She married Lee Aldon Killgore on December 31, 1943. They both worked as social workers for 20+ years in Alaska, where they mentored, raised and/or adopted many children.  They only had 3 years of their nearly 77 years of marriage that they were not raising children.  The children that were loved by them are too numerous to mention in this short passage, but if you were blessed enough to be in their inner circle you became family.

Mary is survived by her husband Lee; daughters Sally Weprin and family of Austin, Becky Watkins and family of Anchorage, AK; grandson Andrew Meade and family of Houston, plus many more; great-grandchildren Steven Shot with Two Arrows and family of Gainesville, Sebastian Shot with Two Arrow of Gainesville, and Christian Meade of Liberty, plus many more; nephew John Hodges of Horseshoe Bay, plus many more; brothers Reuben Hager of Weatherford, Bud Hager of Fort Worth; sisters Faye Quinonez of Burleson, JoAnn McElwrath of Joshua, and Judy Blankenship of Joshua; and an abundance of family and friends.

Mary is proceeded in death by her parents James and Dorsie Hager; sister, LaRue Garay; daughters Allison Killgore and Gayle Killgore Meade.

Mary was a proud member of Saint Paul’s Episcopal Church in Gainesville.  She loved painting, baking cookies by the dozens for the cookie sale at church, and taking care of everyone.

Mary will be laid to rest in Saint Paul’s Episcopal Church Columbarium.  A Celebration of Life will be scheduled later.
