Ginger Smith, 81, of Gainesville, passed away November 5, 2023 in Gainesville.

Ginger was born September 30, 1942 in Gainesville.  She was a lifeguard in her younger life and later became a beautician.  She operated The Wrap Shop and was a Hallmark representative.  She married Shelby Earl Smith on June 25, 1960 in Gainesville.  The couple enjoyed traveling, visiting Lake Texoma, and raising cattle.  Mrs. Smith enjoyed sewing, was an avid reader, frequently attended her grandchildren’s events, and was happiest when surrounded by family.

Survivors include: son David Earl Smith (Susan) of Gainesville; daughter Cherrie Kaye Tinney (Jeff) of Whitesboro; son Thomas Layton Smith (Ginny) of Gainesville; grandchildren: David Ryan Smith, Emily Elaine Smith, John Chisam Terry (Morgan), Chyna Kaitlyn Vincent (Josh), Dakota Shelby Tinney (Shelby), Thomas Hunter Smith, Payton Jane Smith, and Brandy Tschirhart (Ryan); great-grandchildren: Dawson, Savannah, Shelby, Mason, Jackson, Jax, Pearl, Emma Lou, Brynnleigh, Cooper, Lanna, Jagger, and Kohen; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Mrs. Smith was preceded in death by: parents William Orville “Bill” Springfield and Mary Virginia “Jimmie” (Brooks) Springfield; husband of 56 years, Shelby Earl Smith; and brother Bobby Springfield.

A funeral service is scheduled for 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, November 8, 2023, at Geo. J. Carroll & Son Funeral Home with Rev. Daniel Jones officiating.  The family will receive friends at 9:30 a.m. prior to the service.  Interment at Oak Grove Cemetery will follow the service.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Oak Grove Cemetery Association.
