Marylin Phyllis Landen

October 17, 1938 — July 15, 2022

Marylin Phyllis (Schmidt) Nix-Landen passed away on July 15,2022, at the age of 83 from Alzheimer’s and Dementia.  She was able to go peacefully surrounded by her family in Lake Kiowa Texas, where she spent her final 7 months.  Services will be held in Eugene Oregon on August 6,2022, where she will be put to rest near her husband, sister, parents, and grandparents.

Marylin was born in Eugene Oregon, and raised in Junction City Oregon, where she attended high school and met her husband and father of her 3 children.  She was the eldest out of 3 siblings.  During the course of her life, she became a Dental Assistant, bookkeeper, and an amazing archer in which she received many awards.  As she got older, she found her gift and calling in genealogy.  She loved learning and teaching others how to do their genealogy.  Genealogy became her true love and passion as she served in the genealogy center for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints.  She was a faithful member of the church and strived to live the gospel the best of her ability.  She would share her passion to anyone that would sit and give her a listening ear.  Often, she would be found at all hours of the day or night in front of the computer in her home, or at the church building, as she searched records looking for long lost family members.  She instilled this love and passion in her kids and grandchildren.  As she got so excited when she found and connected a past story or family member.  The history in which she connected and recorded was the greatest gift she ever left her family.

The survivors of Marylin are Brother Dr. Charles P. Schmidt (chuck), Brother-in- law Donald Lubonski, Children Stephanie P Adams, Marcus D Nix, Shawn L Nix, her many grandchildren, and great grandchildren.  She left centuries of family names and stories, for generations to read and know.  She will be forever missed but will always be remembered as her legacy continues her work.  God be with you till we meet again.
