Michael Joe Reed, born November 20, 1953, passed away peacefully on February 3, 2025, at the age of 71. Michael lived a life dedicated to serving his community and his country, leaving a lasting impact on everyone who knew him. His unwavering commitment to helping others through his many roles—paramedic, firefighter, fire marshal, and private investigator, defined his extraordinary journey.
Before embarking on his distinguished career in emergency services, Michael served in the United States Army from 1971 to 1977. His service to his country instilled in him the values of discipline, courage, and selflessness, which he carried throughout his life.
Following his time in the Army, Michael devoted himself to public safety. As a paramedic, firefighter, and fire marshal, he spent countless hours risking his own safety to protect others, and he was a steadfast presence in the lives of those in need. His knowledge and experience in fire safety were unparalleled, and his contributions to his community in this capacity saved numerous lives.
In addition to his work in public safety, Michael was a dedicated private investigator. His sharp investigative skills and commitment to the truth were evident in every case he took on, earning him the respect and admiration of colleagues and clients alike.
Michael’s passion for service extended beyond his professional life. He was a loving son, father, grandfather, and friend, known for his kindness, sense of humor, and generous heart. He was always there to lend a hand or offer a listening ear to those who needed it. Michael's love for his family was boundless, and he cherished every moment spent with his loved ones.
Michael is preceded in death by his beloved Dad William Howard Gibson, and Nephew Lincoln Impastato.
Michael is survived by his beloved Mother Sally Gibson, Son and Daughter-in-law Michael Chase and Lina Reed, Daughter and Grandchildren Neely Reed, Raylee and Kace Wenzel, Sister Sally Darlene Reed, Brothers Grady Reed, and Bill Gibson his aunt Joyce Pirtle, and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Michael Joe Reed’s passing leaves a deep void, but his memory will live on in the countless lives he touched through his selfless service and his unwavering love for those around him. Rest in peace, Michael. Your legacy of dedication, sacrifice, and love will never be forgotten.
Arrangements are under the care of Geo. J. Carroll & Son Funeral Home in Gainesville, TX. The Viewing will be on Thursday, February 6, 2025, from 6pm to 7pm, at the funeral home. A graveside pavilion service at Fairview Cemetery, Gainesville, TX, will be held on Friday, February 7, 2025, at 10am.
