Mickey G. Bond

Funeral services for Mickey G. Bond, 79, of Gainesville, are scheduled for 10:00 AM on Thursday, June 20, 2019 at Geo. J. Carroll & Son Funeral Home with Mike Haverland officiating.  Interment with Masonic Rites will follow at Fairview Cemetery.  The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 PM on Wednesday, June 19 at the funeral home.

Mr. Bond passed away June 16, 2019 in Plano.

Mickey was born January 6, 1940 in Love County, Oklahoma, the eldest of four children, to George Bazel and Abbanell Muriel (Wariner) Bond.  He was raised in Gainesville and graduated from high school there.  Mr. Bond married Martha Ann Winters on June 21, 1959 at Harvey Street Baptist Church in Gainesville.  He owned and operated Mighty Mac Enterprises and Mickey’s Bait Shop, the “Biggest Little Bait Shop in Texas.”  Mr. Bond retired from GTE Corporation following 25 years as a lineman and cable splicer.  He also worked in security at the original Bingo Hall in Thackerville for many years.

Mr. Bond was a 32 ^nd Degree Mason of the Scottish Rite and was a past Master of Fish Creek Lodge #344 in Marysville.  He also loved Western culture, collecting coins, and vacationing in Mexico.  Mr. Bond will be fondly remembered as a generous and compassionate soul and will be dearly missed.

Survivors include: companion and dear friend, Ruthann Brucato of Era; son Monnie Bond of Houston; son Michael Bond and wife Carmen of Gainesville; son Mark Bond of Benbrook; daughter Martha Puckett and husband Jay of Woodbine; seven grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; brother Harold Bond of Gainesville; sister Sharon Thompson of Gainesville; and sister Sandra Sims of Gainesville.

Mr. Bond was preceded in death by: his parents, George and Abbanell Bond; wife of 54 years, Martha Ann Bond; and grandson, Christopher Daniel Bond.
